Lisa Konick, PhD, Founder

Dr. Lisa Konick is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and the Founder of Konick & Associates.  She has expertise in the evaluation and treatment of a range of psychological and behavioral problems in children, adolescents and adults, with specializations in child development, behavior and learning problems, neurodiversity (Autism, ADHD), anxiety, depression, and neuropsychological assessments.   Dr. Konick takes into account the "whole picture." She strives to assess all aspects of an individual's life to uncover core issues and identify practical solutions based on the patient’s lifestyle and value system. Recognizing the complex, specialized needs of children and teens, Dr. Konick assesses the various aspects of the child’s life that may be impacting their functioning, and she works collaboratively with parents, caregivers, and educational staff to formulate a comprehensive treatment approach.  As a Cognitive-Behavioral therapist, she is able to blend compassionate understanding with evidence-based practice.  With this integrated approach, she has been very successful in helping individuals and families reach their fullest potential. In addition to therapy, Dr. Konick is well versed in comprehensive psychological and neuropsychological assessments that extend beyond best-practice methods. 

 

Dr. Konick earned her masters and doctoral degrees from Northern Illinois University and she completed an accredited psychology internship at Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital.  Prior to starting her psychology practice, she worked with patients in community mental health, university, residential, inpatient, and intensive outpatient settings.  Dr. Konick was extensively involved in research at Northern Illinois University and Case Western Reserve University's Department of Psychiatry and Neuroscience.  She has numerous publications in professional journals and her research has been presented at the national and international levels.

Sandra Lukashevich, LCPC, NCC, Counselor 

Sandra Lukashevich is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor. She received a Master’s of Science degree in Clinical Psychology from Benedictine University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from North Park University. She works with adolescents, adults, seniors and families to provide counseling for anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, domestic violence, and other life challenges. Sandra is a dynamic, compassionate, and insightful therapist. She is able to quickly establish rapport with individuals, couples, and families. As a Cognitive Behavior Therapist, Sandra combines supportive education with research-based methods to equip clients with the necessary tools to overcome their symptoms and to transfer learned skills to real-life situations outside of the therapy session.  Sandra takes a mindful approach to counseling.  Her work with couples incorporates validated intervention approaches, including the Gottman Method and Emotional Focused Therapy techniques, which enable the couple to uncover and address foundational challenges in their relationship.  She is also a Board Certified Telemental Health Provider, allowing her to offer quality care in person, as well as through virtual therapy sessions.

As a Certified Domestic Violence Provider, Sandra has solid experience with trauma and domestic violence victims. Her skills in these areas focus on empowering children and adults to prevail over the pain that has impacted their lives. Her experience also includes counseling for self-harm, bullying, PTSD, and gender and sexual identity issues.

In addition, Sandra is a Certified Dementia Practitioner, which enables her to provide counseling and cognitive rehabilitation therapy to persons with a dementia diagnosis.  Her clinical focus with this population is to preserve cognitive function, address co-occurring mental health symptoms, and assist patients to maintain their highest level of independent functioning.

Jennifer Palmer, PsyD, Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Jennifer Palmer is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who provides psychological and diagnostic assessments for children, adolescents, and adults. She is passionate about working with individuals with developmental disabilities, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder and Intellectual Disabilities, as well as general psychological or mental health concerns. Throughout her work, Dr. Palmer strives to create individualized plans for each client that incorporate empirically-based assessment tools and treatment interventions.
 
Dr. Palmer values working with patients’ families, educational teams, and outpatient providers. This allows her to create a comprehensive understanding of each client and to facilitate collaboration and consistency among the patients’ support systems. Often, this can lead to greater support for clients and, consequently, improvements in their functioning across different settings. 
 
Dr. Palmer received her Doctor of Psychology degree from Midwestern University and her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, San Diego. Throughout graduate school, she trained at various Chicagoland sites, including settings such as community mental health, hospital, and private practice. She completed her APA-approved internship in NYC, which focused on supporting children and adults with developmental disabilities and comorbid mental health challenges. 

Terry McCormick, PsyD,  Clinical Psychologist 

Dr. Terry McCormick joined the clinical team at Konick and Associates as a Clinical Psychology Fellow in 2021.  She obtained a Master’s of Science in 2003 from Lewis University and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Adler School of Professional Psychology in 2011, with concentrations in group psychotherapy and clinical hypnosis.  Her focus is holistic in nature and corresponds to the unique needs of her clients.  Dr. McCormick integrates her Adlerian and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy training with a Family Systems approach to assist clients develop insight and effective coping skills to improve their overall emotional health and daily functioning.

Over the past 29 years, Dr. McCormick worked within the criminal justice system, both in the fields of law enforcement and clinical psychology.  Her experience includes court ordered mental health assessments, group psychotherapy, and individual, couples, and family therapy with adolescents and adults.  She has assisted teens, adults and families address interpersonal and community challenges related to substance use, anxiety, depression, anger management, conflict resolution, PTSD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and personality disorders.  She is particularly passionate about her work with vicarious trauma in first responders and members of the LGBTQ+ community.

As a certified mediator, Dr. McCormick utilizes a problem-solving approach to help opposing parties come to a mutually agreed upon resolution that seeks to benefit all interested parties. Dr. McCormick also provides services for individuals, couples, and families undergoing significant life transitions ranging from incarceration, legal issues, divorce, domestic violence and narcissistic abuse to other transformative life events, such as loss of identity and adjustment challenges in retirement. Dr. McCormick provides an empathetic environment to explore all types of transitions with the primary focus of teaching the skills needed to thrive in an evolving world.

Annie Farnaus, Administrative Manager

Konick & Associates welcomed Annie Farnaus as the Administrative Manager in 2019. Annie helps clients schedule appointments and facilitates the required paperwork and forms so you can be assured that all of your administrative needs are completed with diligence and consideration.  Annie’s gifts of understanding, communication, and attention to detail make her perfect for her position at Konick & Associates.

Heather Schoolfield, Billing Manager

Heather Schoolfield joined Konick & Associates in 2019. Heather is the Billing Manager for the practice. Heather has a degree in Medical Billing and Coding and she has worked in billing administration since 2010.  Heather assists clients with all aspects of their patient accounts, including verification of insurance benefits, pre-authorization documents, claims submissions, and invoicing and payment processes. She has a passion for helping others while maintaining a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality in communications with existing and prospective clients.

Kristina Kochanova, M.A., Psychology Intern

Kristina Kochanova, M.A., is a doctoral student at Northern Illinois University’s Clinical Psychology program.  Kristina’s assessment and treatment approach is founded within a cognitive-behavioral framework. She is committed to collaborate with the client, their family, and other providers to determine a treatment plan that takes into account the client’s unique goals, values, and situation. She has experience diagnosing and treating a wide range of presenting problems, including anxiety, depression, autism spectrum disorder, emotional dysregulation, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, behavior disorders, learning and developmental disorders, intellectual disability, oppositional defiant disorder, and bipolar disorder.  Additional experiences include intensive exposure-based therapies for children with selective mutism, co-leading anxiety and depression groups, and administering comprehensive neuropsychological assessments for children, adolescent, adults, and geriatric patients.

 

Kristina graduated from Elmhurst College in Elmhurst, IL with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She received her master’s degree in clinical psychology from Northern Illinois University (NIU) in the Fall of 2018. With passion to work with children, adolescents, and their families in clinical settings, Kristina is thrilled to have the special opportunity of working as a practicum clinician at Konick and Associates.

Leanna Rosinski, M.A., Psychology Intern

Leanna Rosinski, M.A., is a doctoral student in the Clinical Psychology program at Northern Illinois University (NIU). She has experience working with children and adults to assess for a wide range of presenting concerns, including cognitive deficits, learning disabilities, attention-related difficulties, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, behavioral disorders, personality disorders, and autism spectrum disorders. She believes proper diagnosis is the crucial first step on the path toward healing and thriving. Gold-star assessment methods, coupled with careful consideration of the individual’s context, form the foundation of her methods. Her experience providing services in schools and community mental health settings have prepared her to collaborate with providers to facilitate integrated support and treatment. In addition to assessment, Leanna has conducted parent management training, group therapy, individual therapy, and intensive exposure therapy with children and adolescents.

 

Leanna received her bachelor’s and master's degrees in psychology from NIU.  She is excited to be working with the team at Konick and Associates to provide assessment services to children, adults, and families.
