Kristina Kochanova, M.A.

Psychology Intern

Kristina Kochanova, M.A., is a doctoral student at Northern Illinois University’s Clinical Psychology program.  Kristina’s assessment and treatment approach is founded within a cognitive-behavioral framework. She is committed to collaborate with the client, their family, and other providers to determine a treatment plan that takes into account the client’s unique goals, values, and situation. She has experience diagnosing and treating a wide range of presenting problems, including:

 

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Autism spectrum disorder

  • Emotional dysregulation

  • Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder

  • Behavior disorders

  • Learning and developmental disorders

  • Intellectual disability

  • Oppositional defiant disorder

  • Bipolar disorder

  • Selective mutism 

Additional experiences include intensive exposure-based therapies for children with selective mutism, co-leading anxiety and depression groups, and administering comprehensive neuropsychological assessments for children, adolescent, adults, and geriatric patients.

Kristina graduated from Elmhurst College in Elmhurst, IL with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She received her master’s degree in clinical psychology from Northern Illinois University (NIU) in the Fall of 2018. With passion to work with children, adolescents, and their families in clinical settings, Kristina is thrilled to have the special opportunity of working as a practicum clinician at Konick and Associates.
