Matt approaches therapy through a psychodynamic lens while integrating further evidence-based interventions such as Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Mentalization-Based Therapy (MBT). These styles focus on the client’s past, present, future, and who they are in relation to themselves and others. This includes helping clients cultivate self-awareness and change through a shared understanding and developing coping skills tailored to each unique individual. He also utilizes creative means like art and music as part of the therapeutic process.
Matt earned his master’s degree from Aurora University in Social Work. Before entering the field, he studied philosophy at Elmhurst University and Oxford University. Matt continues to incorporate philosophical thinking into his therapy and recognizes how it guides us toward a deeper understanding of ourselves and our everyday experiences.
