Elizabeth Schipman, PsyD, CADC

Dr. Elizabeth Schipman (she/her) is a Postdoctoral Clinical Psychology Fellow and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor. Dr. Schipman received her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology and her master’s degree in clinical psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology. She furthered her training with adolescents and emerging adults through an accredited internship at Utah State University’s Counseling and Psychological Services Center.

 

Dr. Schipman joined the clinical team at Konick and Associates in 2023, serving a dual role conducting comprehensive diagnostic and neuropsychological assessments with children, adolescents, and adults, as well as providing individual therapy to teens and adults.  Dr. Schipman is passionate about the assessment process.  She values the importance of using data and research-based approaches to arrive at an accurate diagnosis for each client in order to better assist them in understanding their strengths, areas of difficulty, and identifying areas for growth and support.

 

In addition to her personal interest in working with individuals with ADHD and executive functioning challenges, Dr. Schipman has extensive experience assessing for and treating a variety of concerns, such as:

  • College student & emerging adult issues / College Life

  • Disruptive behaviors in children & adolescents

Dr. Schipman has experience working in a variety of different treatment settings.  She possesses over a decade of experience counseling court mandated adolescents in outpatient, intensive outpatient, and residential substance use treatment programs. Additionally, she provided individual, group, and milieu therapy with high-risk children, adolescents, and adults in inpatient psychiatric hospital and therapeutic day school settings.  Dr. Schipman also offered comprehensive psychological assessments, short-term and long-term outpatient individual therapy, and process-oriented and skills-based group therapy to undergraduate and graduate students at university counseling centers.

Dr. Schipman utilizes an integrative approach that includes client-centered therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and motivational interviewing.  She believes the client knows themselves best, and that by providing clients with empathic understanding, genuineness, and unconditional positive regard, combined with psychoeducation and skill building, clients are able to develop greater insight into themselves, change, and grow.
